Day 94 and 95

So this weekend I went to the wonderful city of TOKYO. I was excited, I mean I'm in Japan, I have to go to tokyo. All the other cities I have been to have been great experiences, but this is the one place I've wanted to go to. so let me take you through my journey.

So the 8 hour train ride. I don't think I explained these trains that well in my Hiroshima post, but Japan's public transportation system is simply bomb. I mean think of traveling from Detroit to DC by multiple trains in only 8 hours for about $75. Not that bad. And For you megabus lovers, these trains are consistant, you can leave at numerous times in the day, and Japan trains are on time. It's like taking a the Metra in Illinois, but across the country. But back to my story.

During my ride, I tried to stay on the Look out for Mount Fuji, and what do you know I found it

Mt. Fuji in the distance. It's actually 2.3 miles above sea level, so it looks small from the distance I'm at

I finally made it to Tokyo

There were these cool boats, people were eating on them, they looked like big covered Gondolas, sorry about the picture quality

There were 8 total beds, and 6 other people inside with me. It seemed like everyone was a different nationality. It was an interesting experience. I don't see my self as a backpacking type. But a cheap way to rest your head on an excursion. I'm happy I took the risk and tried something new. But the whole sharing your space with people you don't know is not my thing. They provided lockers for private storage, but if you had something bigger than a small book bag, you had to keep it in the open. It was like living in a dorm. But less bathrooms and showers.

went to the dollar store and saw these. $1 v-necks. I bought one as a pajama top. A little thin but served it's purpose.

So my hostel was located in Asakusa, Tokyo, which is known for it's shrine. It was near the places I wanted to visit, but I'm happy I got to see a traditional place.

My next stop was Shibuya, a popular shopping area.

Where I ate lunch, this place called Bikini Tapas, yes it's a spanish restaurant

My tapas, from left to right, this hummus tasting thing, that didn't taste so bad once I bit into the raisen, next was some type of meat, then salmon, cream cheese and avocado, I don't know the next one, and finally a crab salad with shrimp

My main dish, some rice, oysters, crawfish, shrimp, and fish I believe. Delicious.

So I stopped in a pet store and saw the cutest dogs.

Oh how I want my own little dog, I mean like my own that lives with me, cause I do have a great dog at home. But with dogs come a lot of responsibility. We shall see. But anyway

Shibuya was cool, a lot of popular stores. I feel like Japan's loves it labels because once again, and in every litte borough i visited i saw lots of designer stores. But my next stop was Harajuku.

I was like look at this cool store, those butterfly pics are made up of shoes, and it turned out to be nike

These cool glasses I bought, For some reason I bought them thinking they were sunglasses, the fact that they weren't tinted just slipped my mind. I'm going to try and turn them into sunglasses, cause I already have to wear contacts to put these on.

Busy streets again.

I went to the one store called Oriental bazaar and cleaned up. They had nice traditional gifts at decent prices. I was happy, I'm done souvenir shopping. I think I've done enough.

My next stop and it was going on 5:30 now and I was up around walking since 9 something, I was getting tired. But I made my way to Shinjuku. My last stop. I kinda chilled here. I had done my shopping, and was happy with my sights in tokyo. Shijinku is supposed to be like the government area. I just took pics of the buildings.

So I ate dinner in the same place where my bus back home was. It was this nice restaurant ont he 52nd floor of this government building.

The seats appeared to be on the floor of the restaurant, but if you look closely, your legs just go underground

I ordered this fried chicken which was good and then this rice porridge

it had rice, shrimp and mushrooms. It was cool

It was a great day in Tokyo. Happy I had the chance to go. I'm closing down on my days in Japan, and I can officially say I'm ready, I've seen all that I've wanted to see. Coming closer to the end.
